a friend of mine told me about a huge elders meeting in southern california.
the subject was the relocation and dissolution of some congregations; it seems that this is the result of some project that has been going on for some time and is going to be implemented right now.. please let me know if this is happening all over the country?.
my dad passed away peacefully this january. in spite of the money he already gave the cult-----he left me well provided for.
my dilemna is what do i do with my will ? i remarried earlier this year--and my new wife will naturally be well looked after ( she is much younger than me. if its good enough for a GB member--who am i to argue! )
but--what do i leave for my 3 kids?
my dub-daughter is married and quite well off i would imagine. she shuns me completely--so any money i leave her will probably wind up in the watchtower coffers
ditto my younger son--not seen him in 30 years. but i know he also is a devout dub.
then there is my older son--d/f over 5 years ago--doing very well in life--probably better off than me--we have a good relationship.
what to do ?

i was gobsmacked when i found out my ( now deceased ) father had handed over £5000 towards the kh building fund a few years ago. then to discover he was donating £100 a month---needless to say when i took over all his affairs when he went into a care home --i straight away stopped that!

so brave heart me think fuck it i'll answer ,i invite them in for coffee, i recognise one older man he is a unique elder who i genuinely was fond of when i was in his name is andrew ,the other guy i didn't recognise we will call harry ( not real name australia doesn't have that many cos with his same name).
so i think to myself i will tread lightly and not cause to much of a fuss for the wife's sake, but my personality is very the opposite of treading lightly ,as you read my threads you will realise i'm not timid.

putting it simply, kingdom halls are no longer the property of a local group of the folks that paid for and constructed it.
the lender, the watchtower society, now says that once a mortgage is satisfied, that congregation must then declare a resolution which says it will continue to make payments, usually equal to the amount they were paying on the mortgage.
and they must do so indefinitely.
can you imagine---- dubs who may have donated for years towards building a kingdumb hall----and understandably feeling a close bond with it-----only to have the ownership taken by the watchtower-------whilst still having to donate the same amount!
THEN the cult decides to sell it out from under them--and make them travel to share another hall.
if that doesnt open their eyes to "the truth" about the cult--then nothing will. beyond hope.

i know i will get a lot of backslash on this forum for saying this, but as it looks like, i won't ever be able to escape the jws.
i have been a born in, third generation jw and awoken in one way or another (i joined this forum 15 years ago) for a very long time.
but i have adapted to the jw lifestyle to a point where it does not bother me anymore.

ok...so i'm a 19 year old fifth generation jw.
mentality, i've been out of the "truth" since i was 16(woke up after i was baptized ironically), but on the outside i'm a model jw.
my parents are really devoted, my grandparents are super devoted, and so are my ants and uncles.
My grandchildren...8 of them..are 5 th generation ( on their grandmother's side). 5 I've never met. The oldest is about your age. I wish she too was mentally out. My door is always open to them. Do you have any family members who are out that you can talk to?
i need maybe 2-5 dozen copies of any edition of the watchtower or awake!
magazines to distribute to family, friends, and neighbors.
